The Webmeister recently took delivery of the first tranche of the of the Chairman's holiday snapswe're talking some eight-hundred pictures so far! We're only going to reveal them one at a time so check back regularly for your next Frodo-fix!

Sydney...
In Wollongong at the moment.
Been here since Monday. Off to Cronulla tomorrow to see Botany Bay - which is
a mess, appparently. Then back to Sydney.
Knocked out of the Chalice, eh? Bugger! I'll sort Hunty out in 2006!
Must dash, lunch needs urgent attention.
Cheers,
Mart

| Another
postcard... |
Well, here I am in Sydney.
Second full day here.
Went to Manly beach today, did a spot of sunbathing...

Ha!
You got to be kidding!
Paleface he no do no sun-worship thing!
Stayed long enough to walk up an down the beach, watch a bit of beach volleyball
- a bit boring; nearly all blokes! - then had a bit of lunch. All very pleasant,
and sunny, though I forgot the sunblock.

| Big
bridge. Shan't be walking up that bugger! |
Sydney Harbour as usual:
stunning. Big bridge. Shan't be walking up that bugger! Fully rigged ship in
full flow - impressive, and a bit scary: lots of rolling about - felt sea sick
watching 'em.
Opera House more impressive than I was expecting, to be honest. Must have spent
an hour or more walking around it and snapping shots. Must start emailing some
pictures soon. Just as soon as I find a likely outlet to download them.
After leaving the OH I stopped to watch a bit of street performance. I was intrigued
as he seemed to have a West Country accent; as it happens he's from Street.
I think we need a link to his website, Steve. Anyway, have a look at www.bikeboy.net
it's a good site, too. His name is Sean Bridges.
Basically, in case you haven't seen him or heard of him he's a juggling, trick-cyclist
comedian. VERY GOOD AND VERY FUNNY! I watched the climax of his act with my
heart in my mouth - I could barely watch, but all the time was cracking up with
his patter. This is a guy who really knows how to play an audience, and how
to ad lib.
Back to the Scandinavian digs now; I've been out since 10.45 this morning and
probably need a wash. Time to write up the diary and check out how my photos
look in normal light rather than the blazing light of a supernova like we had
down here today. I guess it's much the same in Blighty at the moment...
Well that's all folks. Back to Ikealand... it's like a bloody monk's cell!
Still, bye for now,
love

Melbourne and Sydney...Arrived in Sydney yesterday evening, late. Then spent 20mins trying to find the taxi rank! No signs anywhere! Finally gave up when I found the rank with no queue as such, just 50 people milling abt aimlessly. So I walked it and flagged one.
Stayed in a place last night that was Ok, but a bit too professionally organised for my liking (=$$$). Now staying in a place nearby run by Swedes. Naturally this is in Kings X the seediest area of S. I certainly know how to slum it.
Will probably go up to Newcastle on Wednesday and look at a beach for a couple of days, get bored and come back to Sydney for next weekend. Off to Auckland the following Wednesday.
Did the Great Ocean Road last Monday. Awesome. Fantastic scenery.
Finally got around to doing the Neighbours tour on Wednesday... it hammered down with rain all the time we were there! They don't show that on the TV!
Yes. You did read that last paragraph correctly.
They had some extreme weather here last week. Rain + hail the size of cricket balls apparently. One car dealer had all his stocks windscreens smashed.
Hark at me talking about the weather. Well must go and have a look at Sydney Harbour Bridge, bottle it, and decide it's too bloody tall for me to climb it! And too bloody expensive too: $140!

Melbourne...Arrived yesterday morning on overnight
bus.
Melbourne is quite a place, will probably shoot more pics than anywhere else
in Oz. Like it lots. Hope to visit James Cook's cottage tomorrow, saw it outside
today but was short of time as I had to meet Digger.
Stopping at Digger's for the weekend. They have a great place with plenty of
space to stretch out. Quite envious.
Going along the ocean road on Monday, but for now am off to an Irish pub with
Paul for food and drinks - Leanne has a bit of a cold at present.
Expect to leave Melbourne middle of next week or thereabouts.
Going on a Neighbours tour on Tuesday...
Only kidding!!!!
Paul says hi.
Time to scoot, got to have a shower and get into some clean clobber - sunny
and warm again today. I could get bored of all this fine weather!
Ta-ta for now,
Mart

| Adelaide |
Leaving WA this afternoon.
Going to Adelaide on the longest bus journey of my life... 2624km, or slightly
longer than the old 10 & 21 routes from Knowle. Should take abt 36hrs...
Yes, everyone here keeps telling that as well!
Sorry to be leaving Perth. I didn't think much of it at first, but I changed
my mind once I got some decent digs and got out & about a bit. A break in
the weather helped, as well. Will I ever come this way again? Who knows?
Must fly... or rather, must roll...

PS tell Digger I'll be in Melbourne sometime next week... then Sydney the week after. Ayers Rock will have to wait; too much country, not enough time.

| Perth |
I'm in Perth now; arrived Sunday. Expect to get away by the end of the week, as soon as I've seen all I want to see here. Just bought a jacket for 40GBP as this one was too hot and annoying me. Extravagance, eh?
Will have to stay out the pub for a few days to pay for it now!
Weather is warming up here, though when it rains it really has a go at it.
Sorted out my flights (sort of) for the rest of the trip tho' getting to Hawaii from Fiji is proving difficult and I am on a waiting list for a vacant seat. If it don't happen then it don't happen, I guess. So I may end up having just a week in Fiji.
I can confirm that I definitely will be returning on 30 September 2005, barring mishaps or more jackets!
Have moved digs today. My original place was creepy as f*** as well as dirty - I'm not that fussy, but even I have standards. The place was dirtier than my flat! New place is lovely and very clean, and with a very pretty recepionist - yes it even has a reception!
Anyway, must fly lots to do before I go home. It's 17.45 here and I'm in deep downtown Perth at present. Off for a curry tonight... see how they manage to mangle one of those!

| Cape
Town |
Just to let you know I arrived safe and sound in Cape Town at 7.30 local time (a bit earlier than expected).
Slept most of the way down Africa, but still whacked out.
Digs are fine. View is stunning. Table Mountain does not disappoint.
10.40 now, quite hot already. Early cloud has lifted off the mountain and the sky is blue and flawless. Might have a shower in a minute to cool down.
Will write again soon.

| The
ceremonial passing of the baton—hence smiles |
So he wasn't joking then.
He's really doing it.
As the 'meister types, the Chairman packs. Not that he's taking very much, mind—aside
from all our best wishes of course!
I thought we should have a special page to keep everyone up to speed with El Chairo's doings whilst he's away on his Grand Tour. I plan to publish various gleanings on this page—hopefully Frodo will contribute too from his various sun-kissed retreats—though the first he knows of this page will be when he reads it, hopefully sometime over the week-end, whilst in Cape Town. Certainly, he knew nothing before leaving The Shire. So, there you have it, The Fogg-Horn should have it's very own foreign (and roving) correspondent!
Of course, if anybody else would like to contribute copy or pictures (especially pictures!) for this or any other bit of the web-site, I'll be appropriately grateful/reluctant/enthusiastic for and about their use. Just try to remember the libel laws, people!
