IMPORTANT CUP COMPETITION GUIDELINES
With regard to the cup competitions, the following rules will apply for the 2008-09 Season:
The Chalice:
In The Chalice, replays (if required) will be held on the week following the original ties where possible. Only one replay is permitted. If scores are still level, the team with the highest number of goals for the week of the replay progresses, if they are still level, assists, clean sheets, fewest goals conceded will decide in that order. No replay is permitted for the final. If scores are level in the final, the team with the highest number of goals wins, then assists, clean sheets, fewest goals conceded, then penalties (5 flick of a coin).
The Roy Pearce Trophy:
The Roy Pearce Trophy has a round-robin format in the First Phase.
There will be EIGHT groups to begin with:
FIRSTLY:
7 groups of 6 teams: GROUPS
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.
In these groups, teams will play each other just once, making a total of FIVE
sets of matches in each group (=15 fixtures in total). Only the top two teams
will progress from each group. If two or more teams finish level, points-difference
over the qualifying games will decide. If they are still level, lots will be
drawn.
SECONDLY:
1 group of 5 teams: GROUP
8.
In these groups, teams will play each other just once, making a total of FIVE
sets of matches in this group (10=fixtures in total). Only the top two teams
will progress from this group. If two or more teams finish level, points-difference
over the qualifying games will decide. If they are still level, scores between
teams will decide. If teams are still level, lots will be drawn.
The sixteen teams that
qualify will progress to the second round knock-out phase, which will be over
one game. If ties finish level, a replay will be played. If scores still finish
level, ties will be settled on goals scored, then assists, then clean sheets,
then fewest goals conceded over that week’s scores. If scores are still
level, penalties will ensue (5 flicks of a coin). This applies for all knock-out
rounds, including the Grand Final.
The above rules and fixture list may be superseded if calendar problems occur
which mean that competitions may not be resolved.
